Ian Schneider
Medical Monitor
Ian earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2005 from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree in Nursing in 2011 from the University of California, San Francisco where he trained as a Nurse Practitioner. Prior to joining MAPS Europe, Ian worked for ten years on various medicine development programmes, including HIV vaccine clinical trials, oncology medicine development, and new therapies for global health issues, such as postpartum haemorrhage and TB. More recently, Ian also worked in digital health, developing new tools for researchers to accelerate new medicine development and improve the quality of clinical trials.
At MAPS Europe, Ian is currently serving as a Medical Monitor, working on clinical trials for MDMA-assisted therapy.
Ian is passionate about developing new treatments for complex diseases, and working with patients to understand how best to determine whether a new therapy is effective. With only 5% of eligible people participating in clinical trials, Ian hopes to increase the number of people who consider joining research trials, in order to accelerate the development of new medicines for the people who need them most.
In Ian’s free time, he loves cooking, cycling, and traveling (by train, whenever possible!).
